December Edition

A December To Remember!

Testing the Waters

7th Grade Geography has been learning about Human-Environment interaction. Students learned about spillover from human farming and the use of chemical fertilizers necessary for crops to feed the growing populations of the world. Students tested several different sources of area water for Nitrates, Nitrites, Copper, Iron, Lead, and Ammonia Chlorides in our lab and recorded their results.

Collaboration:

8th grade was challenged with demonstrating how a bill becomes law this month and they got pretty creative. Demonstrations varied from Stop-motion presentations to music videos and TikToKs. The project was designed to promote team collaboration and build creativity; these students took their ideas and successfully ran with them!

Here is a sample of their demonstrations below:

How a Bill becomes a law Part 2. "Remix"

Piecing it all together…

A creative group of 8th graders took on stop-motion and used a White House Lego set for the stage of their production. Using a Stop-Motion Camera and a green screen they just started the production. We’re excited to see how this project turns out!

Brain Breakin’

Students in our 4th-hour class love a tough dancing challenge. When they aren’t exploring America’s past in history and how our government/civic systems work, they enjoy a crazy dance-off challenge to help refocus!

A Regular “Who did it?”

Students in the Game/Chess Club this month have become amateur detectives as they build social skills and develop deductive reasoning skills playing the classic board game Clue.

These kids are G-O-O-D!

Technology in the Classroom

Our 7th Grade Students use Google Tools such as Google Earth to discover real-world geography and connect ideas.

This month we mapped the Ring of Fire and its connection in showing Plate Tectonics in the real world!

Student Skills: Cornell Notes

Students have been working to develop student skills to help them organize their learning. This month we have been focusing on how to take notes from “complex” and “dense” subjects, making it easier and simpler for students to study and prepare for tests and locate needed information for projects. This skill is necessary to develop early on so that students can organize ideas and formulate questions about areas they are unsure about.
